What I learned about using Lavender in the winter months

As far as I am concerned, you can never go wrong with Lavender! The delicate blend of floral, with a hint of woodsy and herbal aroma is mild enough to be appreciated by most yet holds it's own among other essential oils. I use it for bath bombs, body butters, and my favourite, the Just Relax Aroma-on-the-go.

Lavender essential oil is a versatile and popular oil known for its calming and relaxing properties and is often an ingredient listed in products designed to help ease one into sleep. It's used in diffuser blends, room sprays, body creams and essential oil rollers. Having struggled with sleep most of my nights, I found comfort in using lavender as a pillow spray because it was less harsh than most essential oils when in contact with skin in its undiluted form (This is a reminder that most essential oils should not be applied directly to skin as they are in a potent state that may result in skin irritation).

Lavender also tends to be the essential oil I reach for before important presentations or stress-inducing events - I apply it to my wrists, behind my ears, and to the nape of my neck throughout the day to help keep my anxiety at bay. It works like magic every time as it absorbs rapidly into the skin.

As the winter storms keep coming (Oh January!), I am using my Lavender Love Body butter more and keeping my Just Relax Aroma-on-the-go at hand (incase you are wondering, I alternate my body butters based on what my body and soul need for the day).

Using Lavender to get through the winter months

You may have read this so many times before but the winter season is not kind to the soul. The winter can be a stressful time for many people due to the shorter days, ambitious new year's resolutions, and colder weather that keep us from spending more time outdoors. The soothing aroma of lavender can come to your aid, especially after a long day - it can help to reduce stress and promote a sense of calm, when you use it in the evening before bed.

And if you are stuck in bed with a cold or flu, inhaling the aroma of lavender oil can help to open up the airways and provide relief from congestion. If you are looking for something that packs more of a punch, check out our Instagram page when we went LIVE with Shennae, certified aromatherapist and owner of Di Vine Beauty Wellness, as she shared a DIY facial steam to fight the winter blues right in your own home. For a bath, try our Lavender & Peppermint organic bath bombs to help soothe and decongest. The Peppermint acts as a natural decongestant while Lavender helps keep you calm and relaxed while your body heals.

If it's not apparent by now, using lavender scented products in the winter months can do you some good. So the next time you are snowed in or thinking of DIY wellness project - I hope you reach for lavender. #ItsACalmVibe
