Saying No to others so I could Say yes to my self-care

Updated: Apr 10, 2022

Have you been able to find a work life balance while working from home?

The notion of working from home was really exciting at first but between my business, my profession as a Rec Therapist, and role in operations I found myself working longer days, and getting less rest... recharging only to about 50% before I had to do it all again.

The uncertainty of all to expect, for a planner like me, made night time a battle for sleep before sunrise. My lavender pillow spray and comforting hugs from those that love and know me best seemed to be the only remedy for the growing insomnia.

I needed to find balance. I needed to adjust... so I turned to my strengths. I am at my best when I can use my hands... get them dirty as some may say. I allowed myself to explore avenues of creativity to aid in efficiency (back to dry eraser boards and goodbye phone planner). I mapped my days the way I needed to visualize it (notes everywhere #OrganizedChaos). I spoke up about commitments and needs even when it meant saying no to the people I care about. The latter got easier as I began to realise this meant saying yes to me, and my self care.

I was fortunate to find balance admidst the changes. If you are still struggling, I urge you to pay attention to your body, your mind, and your soul. They keep the scars everytime you break.

I understand that with all that is going on it is easy to forget to be kinder to our body, our mind, and our soul. However it is essential to wllow your body and mind to recharge so you can do more and do better tomorrow. Remember “Self-care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what's left of you.”

If you need some tips, or need a friend to share your struggles with DM/ email me... I am happy to share and listen.

All in all, this is a reminder to check-in with yourself.

With care in mind,
